Balloons in my shoes!

June 15, 2011 0 Comments Latest Updates by Janine Daniel
I flew up to Johannesburg on 15 June to celebrate my daughter's birthday. Due to a flight delay, I arrived after Chloe had gone to sleep. The next morning I heard my daughter telling Chloe that I had arrived. As Chloe opened the bedroom door, I jumped forward saying Hello Hello. Poor Chloe got such a fright, she turned and ran up the passage crying. I felt awful. I was not expecting that reaction! When she realized it was only me, she was all smiles and I was forgiven.

Chloe went to a birthday party on Thursday. That brought back memories of my children going off to birthday parties. On Friday I went with Chloe and Janine to the famous Clamber Club. Chloe did not participate with the other children, preferring to do her own thing. It is a lovely idea, lots of indoor and outdoor activities for the 2 - 3 years old. It was freezing but the little ones had a whale of a time.

We spent Saturday morning buying goodies for Janine's tea to be held on Sunday afternoon. Chloe noticed the "see through lift" and wanted to go on it. When we got into the lift, Chloe started saying "I don't want to." I pressed the button and down we went. Chloe's eyes lit up when she saw the shoppers and started laughing. When we reached the basement, Chloe said, “More Granny, more."  Chloe and I spent quality time together during the afternoon. Chloe is speaking very well and enjoys creative activities and watching "Shrek." She is very pretty and looks more like Janine every time I see her. I gave her some balloons to play with and she could name and recognise the different colours. She was able to group them together according to colours and shape.

That was a proud granny moment!

We had a special treat on Sunday morning - we went to the Lipizzaner Horse Show. Chloe and Gariss, her cousin, enjoyed every minute. Gariss loved giving carrots to the horses after the show, Chloe, however stood a distance away, quite happy to watch the proceedings.

Chloe enjoys being outside and loves to go to play parks. She is fearless on some of the apparatus and afraid of others. She takes delight in playing with me and we have such fun. I am so pleased that we have this ability to make each other laugh.

I have a lovely ring tone on my cell phone. It sounds like Chloe's laughter. Whenever I received a call, Chloe would run to my phone and laugh. Of course she wanted my phone to ring all day. Janine would phone me from her cell and Chloe would dash to it and say "Again Granny, again." Then Janine would ring me again!

Chloe normally calls me granny but if I do not hear her she shouts "Gran, where are you?”

When I arrived home, I took off my boots and put them away. I wore them to work on Monday and when I got home, my feet felt odd. I felt inside one of the boots and there I found three balloons. The other shoe yielded the same. A gift from Chloe!
